Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Spider-Man: Homecoming follows Peter Parker as he navigates life as a high school student while embracing his role as Spider-Man after his debut in Captain America: Civil War. Under the guidance of Tony Stark (Iron Man), Peter is eager to prove himself worthy of being an Avenger, but Stark encourages him to focus on being "a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." Balancing school, friendships, and his superhero duties proves challenging for Peter, especially when he stumbles upon a dangerous criminal enterprise.
The main antagonist is Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, a blue-collar worker turned arms dealer who scavenges alien technology left over from the Battle of New York. Toomes and his crew use the tech to create advanced weapons, selling them on the black market. Peter, eager to prove himself as more than just a small-time hero, tries to stop Vulture on his own, despite warnings from Stark to stay out of major threats.
As Peter digs deeper, he faces several challenges, including the loss of his suit after a failed mission, which forces him to rely on his own abilities. In the climactic battle, Peter confronts Toomes, who also turns out to be the father of his classmate and crush, Liz. Despite the personal stakes, Peter stops Toomes and saves his life during the final showdown. The film ends with Peter learning the importance of responsibility and choosing to remain a grounded, local hero, while Stark offers him a spot on the Avengers, which Peter declines. The movie concludes with a tease of future conflicts as Aunt May discovers Peter’s secret identity.
